Welcome

Home 9 Welcome

The Geelong Bushwalking Club is a lively and friendly group that will welcome you warmly, whether you are a beginner or an experienced walker. From a group of 6 in 1973, the club has grown to around 200 members of varying ages, interests, and experience.

Why would I join the GBC?

Here’s what our members tell us

They enjoy the chance to expand their walking experiences in a friendly and knowledgeable group. They feel safe and supported walking with us. They enjoy the high level of social interaction during a walk and the feeling of belonging the shared experience brings.

They find inspiration in the attitudes and capabilities of other walkers.

If you like the sound of this, look over our FAQs and then head to our Walk Program to see our range of upcoming walks.

We walk along the Surf Coast, on the Bellarine and Mornington Peninsulas, in the Brisbane Ranges, Geelong and surrounds, the Otways, the You Yangs, Werribee Gorge, and Wombat State Forest as well as further afield.  Our usual walking days are Tuesday (easier walks) and Thursday, with occasional weekend walks. We also run multi-day walks in different parts of Victoria or interstate, often based in caravan parks, as well as occasional multi-day pack-carrying hikes.

Visitors will need to complete 3 walks before joining the club, so please contact us on gbushinfo@gmail.com to arrange your visitor walks. All walkers must show proof of double COVID vaccination.
